The Eagle’s Nest – (Three, Four, and Five year-old Kindergarten)
A child’s training and education in the early years of his life are as important as any he will ever receive. The scripture, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6, gives us basis for Christian training.
Our program recognizes that three, four, and five year olds need time to develop and grow into maturity. We strive to provide experiences that contribute to development at this early age. The child learns to expand his world as he becomes part of a group. There are ample opportunities for learning through play, sharing, resting, and hands-on activities. Our program is center-based and follows prescribed guidelines. We seek to help the child at this early age learn to live in such a way as to glorify his Maker and Creator, to develop a sense of self-esteem, and to be confident that he is loved. Pre-school students participate in most school activities and are an integral part of our PDS family.
In addition to those things mentioned above, the four and five year old curriculum include Bible, Phonics, Math, Art, Music, Computer, P.E., Foreign Language and Library. Science and Social Studies are taught through units of study. The curriculum is organized and coordinated so that the child’s experiences during these important years can best prepare him for the following years. Four and Five year old kindergarten use aBeka Phonics and Writing to introduce phonics, reading, and writing instruction.
